Mission & Vision

Plarebel is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 as a technical knowledge center for plastics circularity, and has since grown into a key player in the circular plastics value chain. In Belgium, Plarebel is supporting Fost Plus, the approved organization responsible for Extended Producer Responsibility for household packaging, in making plastic-containing household packaging waste circular. We were involved in the creation of the Blue Bag for PMD waste and have also contributed to its expansion. With extensive knowledge of plastic recycling, Plarebel contributes to reaching a high quality of sorting and recycling for as many as 11 plastic fractions.

With in-depth expertise in effective and high-quality plastic recycling, Plarebel has built a strong reputation. This expertise is shared with partners and members through long-term support contracts, ad-hoc advice, analyses, and tailored training. Plarebel is a reliable partner in the search for ways to maximize plastic recycling and contribute to the transition to a circular economy.

Mission

Plarebel aims to work in collaboration with all stakeholders to promote, develop, stimulate, and increase the levels of plastic recycling in Belgium and Europe to ensure the transition towards a circular economy.

Vision

Plastics are now an indispensable part of our daily lives. They are found in textiles, cars, furniture, building materials, and electrical devices. A world without plastics seems almost unthinkable. Plarebel believes that plastics, thanks to their long lifespan, can have a second life and thus become an important part of the circular economy we strive for. Despite plastics often being associated with negative environmental impacts, such as plastic pollution, their potential lies in reusing and recycling them to create a sustainable future.
